Important Update Regarding the 2027 Vermont Burlesque Festival & Summit - Lou Lou la Duchesse de Rière
Dear VTBF Community, Artists, and Friends,
We are reaching out today with an important update regarding our upcoming festival lineup and programming.
Our scheduled headliner, the 2022 Miss Exotic World and Queen of Burlesque, Lou Lou la Duchesse de Rière, has informed us that she must step down from this year’s Vermont Burlesque Festival and Saturday Performer Summit due to personal health reasons and an upcoming surgery.
First and foremost, Lou Lou is simply irreplaceable. While we will deeply miss her presence, glamour, and artistry on our stage, our absolute priority is her health, healing, and well-being. We send Lou Lou our love and warmest wishes for a smooth surgery and a swift, gentle recovery. The door at VTBF will always remain wide open for her, and we look forward to welcoming her to Vermont at a future festival once she is feeling 100% and ready to return.
What This Means for the Showcase Stage: Rather than attempting to substitute another headliner in Lou Lou’s place, we are turning back to our community. Lou Lou’s withdrawal leaves two performance spots open on the main showcase roster. Due to the overwhelming response and exceptional caliber of talent in this year’s performer applications, we as producers have decided to use these two vacant spots to invite two additional artists from our applicant pool to take the stage. We are thrilled to offer this spotlight to more of the brilliant talent who applied this season.
A Quick Note About Our Festival Artwork: You may notice some changes to our promotional artwork over the next few weeks, including the temporary absence of a featured headliner. This is intentional. Rather than immediately replacing Lou Lou in our festival artwork, we’ll be updating our materials again once our emcee has been officially announced. We appreciate your patience during this brief transition — there’s more to come!
What This Means for the Winter Summit & Rendezvous: Lou Lou’s absence will naturally affect the programming of our Saturday Performer Summit & Rendezvous, where she was scheduled to lead masterclasses. We are currently reassessing the structure, masterclasses, and format of the event. While we have not made a final determination just yet, we are actively weighing our options and will announce a clear decision regarding the Summit in the coming weeks.
