GENDER EXPANSIVE SENSUAL PERFORMANCE
with Theydy Bedbug
Gender is a playground, and striptease, lip sync, and embodied movement are my favorite toys.In this class, we will use these tools in performance to explore the joyful sensual expression that is uniquely our own. Inspired by the gifts of femininity, masculinity, plants, animals, and other nonhuman entities, we will tap into how to turn on an audience, activate our most empowered personas, and channel our sensual magic on stage. In connection and community, we will practice releasing narratives that inhibit our authentic sexual expression and stories about how we “should” move, express, or dress based on gender norms we’ve inherited from structures of power that disconnect us from each other, our sexual agency, and our intuitive gender creativity. We will play group games, duet exercises, and build toward (optional) short solo performances that experiment with erotic eye contact, gesture, clothing reveals, and storytelling. This class centers queer and gender nonconforming wisdom, and all genders and sexualities are welcome.
FABULOUS IS A STATE OF MIND
with Foxy Tann
This on your feet workshop with The Boss of Burlesque aims to get at emotionally engaging performance by “working from the outside in”.
We can only talk about it so much, eventually we have to physically perform for the audience! And that is what The Fox is here to help you do!
You will learn some traditional burlesque choreography and using that as a framework, you all will work toward the goals of emotional authenticity and confidence on stage. The physical portion of the class is based in individual attention, bossy encouragement and honest even-handed critique which you will be able to incorporate feedback immediately.
Movement attire required. Heels encouraged, but optional.
Medianoche will take you through every step of tassel twirling -- from how to make your own easy-twirling pasties, to secret insider tricks of application, to the most advanced tasseling moves that you can put onstage!
Bring your own tasseled pasties and adhesive to wear during the class.
JUST ASK FOXY
with Foxy Tann
This is your chance to sit down and have an open conversation with Foxy Tann. This round table or "open book" discussion with one of the hardest working burlesque emcees (and performer) in the industry will start with a brief history about Foxy. Then the room opens up to questions and discussion.
